Applications Specialist demolab based (small molecules) for Life Science Mass Spectrometry (LSMS) f/m

The key role of this position is to support the sales process for LSMS products in the European Commercial Organization (ECO) with a focus on Central Europe mostly and in particular. This position is based in the Dreieich demo facility. This sales support role participates in the EU CMD sales support team responsible for product demonstrations, sales calls, technical advice and training to sales colleagues, customer visits, application development, scientific events, customer support, customer product focused training for LSMS. This role encompasses both the pre-sales process and post-sales support. This role is expected to be a product-focused applications expert working primarily ‘hands-on’ in the German or Swiss Thermo Fisher Scientific LSMS lab and additionally working on customer sites. A specialist will be expected to have regular and frequent contact throughout the sales process with a prospect and following a successful sale similar regular and frequent contact with the customer both on-site and off-site ensuring continuity and customer satisfaction.


Main Activities / Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for active participation in the LSMS sales support team for DACH and to achieve their identified goals and participate in achievement of the team goals
  • Qualify and prepare a customer instrument demonstration request together with the Sales representative and customer if necessary
  • Perform customer instrument demonstrations
  • Provide in a timely manner a thorough, comprehensive, well written/prepared instrument demonstration report to the prospect or sales person. The report may be presented at the customer site
  • Ensures training activities are provided to the customer in a timely manner while focussing on customer satisfaction and on a continually improving customer relationship leading to future business opportunities with the customer.
  • Must communicate clearly and quickly with sales colleagues and other relevant parties to ensure proper organization of a customer demonstration
  • Monitor performance of mass spectrometers, liquid chromatographs and related equipment and ensure proper functioning by using system suitability checks on a regular basis
  • Develop best practices that result in sales success
  • Convert demonstration or collaboration data into application notes or peer reviewed articles in collaboration with customers
  • Provide on-site and off-site technical support to customers and collaborators
  • Attend conferences and other events in support of marketing activities to present scientific or technical posters and orals and in support of sales activities by, for example, manning a booth or stand
  • Must work closely with other specialists both locally and within the EU CMD Sales Support Team

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar
  • Extensive knowledge, skills and hands-on experience in mass spectrometry coupled to liquid chromatography
  • Strong Customer Focus Skills
  • Excellent fluency in English (Additional Language skills are a positive asset)
  • Excellent relevant technical/analytical product line knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good self-organizational skills with a high level of motivation
  • Driving License
  • Willingness to travel mainly within the appointed region up to 35%
  • The ability to work on own initiative and to meet deadlines and Targets
