Position Summary:
  • R&D Project Lead has the primary responsibility for partnering with R&D Supervisor to define, plan, track and manage assigned R&D projects.
  • Success in this role will require a proven ability to work collaboratively with customers and trial sites, encourage teamwork and communicate effectively with senior management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Trials; preparation, testing, collecting isolates, tallying data.
  • Manage Validation Studies, M23 Studies.
  • Custom Panel Production; preparing custom panels for customers, broth's/media
  • Prepare microbiology media; RPMI, MHB/LHB,VFM,MHF, Mueller Hinton Broth autoclave/preparation of equipment/glassware.
  • Shipment preparation; Media/Broth's, frozen/dried panels, infectious substances, lab supplies
  • Assists QA/RA with appropriate documentation and testing: panels/broth's/media, MIC trays, daily isolate QC transfer
  • Frozen stock isolate maintenance, manage in house study supplies
  • Performa drug isolate testing.
  • Organize trial data for internal and external audits
  • Prepare abstracts and posters for presentations at National meetings.
  • Customer inquiry/complaint testing; Sensititre panels (dried and frozen).
  • Provides support to technical services either for investigational work or customer assistance.
  • Development of and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Drug development for commercial Antimicrobial susceptibility testing products.
  • Consultation support for product customization and formulations
  • Support Marketing projects for Microbiology Product Line, by providing technical information (technical product Inserts, sell sheets, technical information tool).
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with new and existing customers.

Minimum Requirements:
  • B.A. or B.S. with related courses in microbiology, chemistry, biology and a strong background in life sciences.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in one or more of the following: formulations, product development, process development, project development

Preferred Requirements:
  • R&D experience
  • Extensive laboratory experience, use of equipment, including lab safety and inventory experience working with various techniques, such as pipetting, microscopy, preparation of gram stains.
  • Understanding all concepts related to managing reference studies and clinical trials.
  • High level of knowledge of laboratory procedures, including safety protocols.
  • Highly proficient in Excel.
  • Good understanding of FDA and ISO regulations and their application to Thermo Fisher Scientific products.
  • Ability to manage and plan multiple projects
  • Detail oriented and able to maintain accurate records
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a group setting
  • Excellent writing skills, as well as communication, creativity, attitude, organization, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage projects with minimal supervision.
