Job Description

Job Title: Senior Director, Marketing Planning & Analytics
Location: Sunnyvale, CA (preferred)


In this business critical role, the Senior Director, Marketing Planning & Analytics, is responsible for many of the operational deliverables for the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (CMD) division. This role is tasked with managing the marketing plan of record, aligning global marketing strategy, AOP and campaign planning processes across the CMD division, business units, and regional commercial teams.

The leader will manage a department of 5, and leverage analytic tools, processes and measurement to ensure that CMD marketing teams at Thermo Fisher have 3-5 year break-through strategies which cascade into annual actionable objectives and A3-driven plans. She/he will work with marketing leaders to set and manage the annual planning cadence for CMD marketing planning, budgeting, monthly/quarter reviews and cross-Divisional campaigns. The individual must be comfortable working in and leading cross-functional teams, engaging with marketing & commercial leaders as well as finance partners to also assess the marketing planning lifecycle and marketing initiatives across businesses. A highly visible position, she/he will have strong strategic & process acumen, familiarity with financial modeling and solid collaboration & communication skills. The role will be part of the Divisional Marketing Leadership team and report to the VP, CMD Global Marketing & Strategy.

What will you do?

  • -Formulate a strategy to align and standardize key marketing planning practices across Groups, Divisions and Regions which drive marketing performance and accountability
  • -Works with marketing stakeholders to define to set and manage the annual planning cadence for marketing planning, budgeting and monthly/quarter reviews
  • -Map out the planning process to enable more effective and efficient cross-divisional campaigns which create unique value for customers and create new revenue growth
  • -Develop annual marketing targets, manage KPI process and provide relevant marketing analytical reports to senior leaders
  • -Conduct PPI-oriented training and facilitate workshops with Group, Divisional and/or Regional marketing to ensure adoption and utilization of new planning tools and processes.


How will you get there?

  • -Bachelor’s degree from and accredited institution required; MBA preferred.

  • -8+ years experience including time leading a successful strategic marketing program management, in a large, complex knowledge-based organization

  • -Advanced expertise with excel, formulas, and reporting of complex metrics

  • -Strong prioritization, leadership and decision-making skills.

  • -Demonstrated oral & written communications and interpersonal skills – strong customer orientation.

  • -High level of intensity and comfort with change.

  • -Ability to work effectively and influence others in a matrix environment.

  • -Demonstrated success developing and building a high-performing communications team

  • -Ability to travel approximately 25-30%
