Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Manager of Information Technology, Biosciences for our Rockford and Milwaukee operations. In this role the manager is responsible for the implementation and support of critical IT systems that enable high throughput and high quality customer facing, manufacturing and distribution operations at both sites. The Manager will work closely with business operations and global IT colleagues to drive IT project roadmaps and continuous improvement plans. This leadership position requires strong technical, people and customer facing skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success through inspirational leadership, operational efficiency and business focus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing LSG Rockford Infrastructure, help desk and non-ERP and ERP enterprise applications including:
  • PC Servers & operating systems
  • PC server Storage and backup systems
  • Desktop computing systems and applications
  • Local and Wide Area Networks
  • Telephony
  • PC, server and network security
  • Help Desk function (end user support)
  • Applications such as QlikView, Chemmate/IA, MasterControl
  • Hiring and staff development
  • Ensuring reliable delivery and availability of Information Technology systems and resources required to meet business objectives while managing systems in a risk-appropriate manner to meet this objective, including establishment and reporting of appropriate metrics
  • Working with business stakeholders to establish priorities for IT work and ensuring that IT resources are appropriately focused on that work
  • Ensuring necessary resources are appropriately allocated, and that budgets, schedules, business requirements, high quality standards and stakeholder expectations and requirements are met
  • Providing competitive business systems solutions aligned with Business Unit, Division (BID), Group (LPG) and corporate strategy
  • Evaluation and proposal of potential IT solutions
  • Management of departmental budget
  • Negotiation with solution providers in cooperation with Global IT Sourcing to ensure the best products and services are delivered
  • Meet corporate and legal/regulatory requirements in areas such as Audit, PCI, SOX, software license management, applications solutions testing, software versioning, Global IT Security Policies and other corporate, group, divisional or business unit requirements.
  • Collaborate with GIS and/or other shared services to implement company standards and solutions as needed
  • Understand and enforce company’s infrastructure architecture standards and policies to maximize efficiency and support platform compatibility
  • Regular on-site presence at both Rockford, IL and Milwaukee, WI sites (office, manufacturing and distribution areas), with occasional domestic and international travel.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Project management certification and experience with planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining business operations systems (Planning, Finance, Commercial, Manufacturing, Distribution)
  • Demonstrated strategic and tactical leadership results in building a high performance results driven organizations
  • Experience managing IT budgets and prioritization of resources for maximum business value
  • 5+ years of management experience

Required Experience with the following processes:
  • ERP Supply Chain, Finance, Manufacturing & Commercial Operations
  • Demand Planning & MRP
  • SDLC with an emphasis on Agile, TDD & SCM
  • QA & QC process, tools & test methodologies
  • Project & Change Management
  • Applications & Systems Support
  • Preferred experience using these technologies:
  • JD Edwards Enterprise One
  • INFOR DP, Extol EDI gateway, AMAPS+
  • PRMS
  • Lotus Notes
  • MasterControl

Preferred Experience:
  • Understanding and certification for ITIL service management is a plus
  • Life Science industry background is a plus
  • Working knowledge of molecular biology, chemistry, and/or biology is a plus
  • PMP, CAPM or other Project Management Certification
  • BS Required (Computer Science, Information Systems), MS or MBA preferred
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with business partners and customers in a non-technical manner
  • Must be able to work effectively as a manager of a Team and in a matrix reporting environment
  • Must be able to work with and effectively communicate (listen, speak, present and write) to all levels of management and build working relationship with others outside of the Team
  • Ability to organize, disseminate information efficiently and set expectations
  • Ability to multi-task and work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management skills, prioritization abilities and personal accountability
  • Ability to work as a team member and contribute to the overall success of a team as well as work independently and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be self-confident, assertive and self-motivated
