Summary
The Product Content Specialist III leverages existing scientific subject matter expertise in the natural sciences alongside data analysis reports and tools to identify opportunities to enhance digital product content within the organization’s multichannel authoring system; subsequently harvests, stages and maintains product information across Thermo Fisher Scientific web properties. Assumes project management responsibility for numerous ongoing content improvement projects, and shares/drives progress and strategy with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities can include:
  • Generating timely snapshots of both product content quality (audits) and quantity (fill-rates) across defined portfolios, liaising with various stakeholders in marketing, product management, IT, Corporate Brand, and eBusiness to determine business needs and priorities
  • Managing and contributing towards ongoing content improvement projects, ensuring that:
    • Data is structured and parsed appropriately and that complex formatting is applied to support websites, print publications, and other go-to-market formats
    • Content is consistent with corporate style requirements and brand guidelines and in compliance with Legal requirements (domestic and international, as assigned), including patent, trademark and intellectual property disclosure
    • Taxonomy categorizations are accurate and required specifications for products in those categories are fully populated
    • Tags and metadata are well formed
  • Providing editorial guidance to other content contributors; also advising on and applying best practices for content maintenance
  • Contributing to the development of content standards based on evolving business needs, good science, and competitor analysis within defined product types
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and Web search techniques, with a demonstrated ability to use tools including Microsoft Excel and Access to analyze large data sets
  • An educational or vocational background in the physical or life sciences with a working knowledge of scientific terms, abbreviations, and characters
  • Solid spelling, grammar, and writing skills required to create and edit content
  • Must be results-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as effectively within a team environment
  • Must possess strong project/time management skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and time sensitive situations
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and responsibly in regard to project progress and deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities, including timelines and expected deliverables
Preferred Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Technical Writing, a Scientific discipline or a related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience creating and maintaining content, with experience using content management systems and taxonomies highly preferred
