Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Global Indirect Sourcing - Travel & Fleet Services, this position is a part of the Global Sourcing organization at Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Indirect Sourcing group is responsible for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s global indirect sourcing strategy, and execution. Its goal is to drive multi-million dollar annual savings, create competitive advantages by achieving cost reductions related to Corporate Services, MRO Site Services, Travel & Fleet Services, IT and Telecom spend, and help make the organization an industry leader in sourcing strategies, processes, and practices.

The Data Analyst will learn the strategic sourcing process and be responsible for completing comprehensive analyses, and recommending actions to achieve the company’s strategic sourcing goals while utilizing current sourcing technologies to improve efficiencies and achieve high level of savings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, model and analyze data for strategic sourcing initiatives using current sourcing technologies
  • Design & distribute electronic surveys to assess current consumption and analyze supplier spends
  • Provide program management support of global commercial card programs
  • Build electronic RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs for sourcing global indirect categories
  • Use Internet search engines for researching supplier and industry analysis and trends
  • Build models to capture sourcing savings and compliance tracking
  • Function as a super-user for both contract management and eSourcing tools
  • Proactively monitor advancements in sourcing technologies to ensure Thermo Fisher Scientific is aware of leading edge, next wave tools to improve productivity and savings in strategic sourcing; and make recommendations
  • Assist in contract development and supplier negotiation processes by providing analysis of supplier negotiation points along with feedback on the impact of the proposed terms
  • Measure and evaluate internal customer compliance and supplier performance indicators by determining metrics and developing scorecards, for various sourcing categories
  • Assist Category Leaders in the development, analysis and collection of savings reports to determine effectiveness of contracts executed by Indirect Sourcing
  • Research industry information and complete benchmarking studies to compare savings, sourcing efficiency, and other measurements for the divisions and businesses of Thermo Fisher; and make recommendations
  • Help manage the content for the global indirect sourcing intranet web-site
  • Participate in project team setting to support Global Sourcing Managers, Directors, and VPs, in strategic analysis and process improvements

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a 4-year undergraduate college degree required in the Business, Finance, and/or Supply Chain Management
  • Purchasing/Sourcing or Financial Analyst 1 to 3 years of experience is preferred
  • Experience with Windows based office software required
  • Strong analytical skills required, in order to learn to analyze, investigate & interpret data, issues & situations
  • Experience with SaaS Sourcing technology preferred
  • Knowledge of the strategic sourcing process and practical application of the process to sourcing projects
  • Knowledge of project management theories preferred
  • 10% domestic travel
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability of taking initiative
  • Ability to pursue goals with commitment, passion, and energy

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

  • A minimum of a 4-year undergraduate college degree required in the Business, Finance, and/or Technical field
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access required
  • Must be adept at the use of the internet and various search engines for research
  • Ability to balance projects, with a high degree of energy; as a member of project teams and the ability to drive projects to completion in a complex, deadline driven environment
  • Ability to interface across various levels of management, with multiple Thermo Fisher businesses both domestic and international
