How will you make an impact?
The Senior Director of Global Market Development and Strategy will be responsible for leading a high performing Cell Biology Global Market Development team, influencing and enabling regional marketers across the globe, and working with business segment leaders to facilitate strategic growth plans across the portfolio. Primary responsibilities include setting global marketing strategies for multiple business segments, developing global marketing campaigns, and guiding the execution of supporting activities, including digital programs, live events, and the development of sales enablement training and materials.

In support of our global marketing strategies, this leader is also responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive digital marketing and eBusiness programs targeted at the core markets that we serve today, as well as market adjacencies that represent opportunities for expansion, and leveraging new technology to improve the customer experience. This includes determining ways to effectively reach, engage, and monetize online scientists and researchers.

What will you do?
  • Lead the development and implementation of industry leading marketing programs that support the overall Cell Biology business strategy and drive awareness, new customer acquisition, and revenue growth above targets. This includes working with key stakeholders such as product management, eBusiness, regional marketing, and other commercial colleagues to develop compelling marketing strategies.
  • Engage and lead a global digital marketing organization in a matrixed operating environment. Specific areas of focus include: omni-channel marketing (e.g. SEO, SEM, Social, email, web content, events), customer profiling, analytics, merchandising, and account based marketing.
  • Be a champion for the customer experience and customer journey across our web platforms in collaboration with eBusiness. Ensure content, selection guides and other tools drive engagement.
  • Shape, communicate and enforce brand identity principles and guidelines in conjunction with corporate marketing.
  • Develop, refresh and drive effective utilization of customer-facing marketing materials, including concepts, tool kits, collateral, and communication plans
  • Lead our educational efforts, both online and offline working with FAS and Services division to maximize trial, conversion, and affinity for our products and brands.
  • Lead the development of the annual Strategic Planning Process, working with the Cell Biology Leadership team to identify critical questions, creating relevant data views to drive decisions, and preparing presentation materials for Sr. Management reviews.
  • Identify and assess regional, industry and technology trends and develop recommended actions to accelerate revenue and share gain. Identify new markets and business opportunities globally. Contribute to assessment of business investments, priorities, and trade-offs.
  • Hire, motivate, develop, and retain staff to build and maintain a strong marketing organization. Provide leadership, coaching and feedback to direct reports. Continually evaluate individual skills, strengths and opportunities for growth. Guide development plans, monitor regularly, and clearly communicate performance expectations.
  • Be an active participant and influential member of the Cell Biology leadership team.
  • Manage department budget judiciously.
How will you get here?
  • Undergraduate degree required; an MBA or equivalent consulting / working experience is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive career growth and experience in marketing and / or strategy development leadership roles; experience in life sciences industry preferred.
  • Broad functional experience in the fundamentals of marketing, including strategic planning, campaign development, market research, promotions/advertising, and value proposition creation. Strong fundamental knowledge and operating foundation in digital marketing and eBusiness required.
  • Experience working in a multinational company with demonstrated ability to lead effectively and drive results in a matrixed management operating environment
  • Excellent strategy, planning and execution skills with proven ability to drive results
  • Effective communicator (verbal, written, presentations), with a demonstrated ability to influence through a straight-forward style of communication
  • Highly developed commercial and business acumen; an ability to recognize growth opportunities and capitalize on them
  • Ability to understand, analyze and assimilate complex issues, draw correct conclusions and formulate clear strategy and policies
  • Able to travel up to 30% globally
