Job Description

What will you do?

  • Responsible for inventory accuracy for both the USDC and the Canada Distribution center.
  • Establish SOP for inventory discrepencies.
  • Drive responsibility for inventory shortages.
  • Drive contractual commitments as established on a monthly basis
  • Responsible for annual physical inventory for Canada Distribution Center.
  • Facilitate daily meetings with the USDC and support the FedEx team to resolve pending issues for inbound, outbound, returns and kit production.
  • Interface for customer and/or field communications as it relates directly to either the USDC or the Canada DC.
  • Interface for the FedEx team as it relates directly to internal or external supplier issues.
  • Collectively maintain all material master data between SAP and Sterling.
  • Support cycle count methodologies in a 3PL environment and establish SOP for classification counting.
  • Support the Inventory Control Analyst as related to cycle count activities.
  • Generate monthly inventory reports to management and Finance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for the General Ledger.
  • Support technical departments for IDOC failures as related to EDI communications.
  • Review and support the purchasing/ planning team to establish levels of scrapping authority.
  • Review and support the purchasing/planning team with GRIR issues as needed.
  • Globally align 3PL activities to establish best practices.
  • Establish department procedures.
  • Develop work instructions.
  • Support Planning & Logistics manager for E & O activities.
  • Lead or participate on PPI teams to drive cost savings.
  • Support the Planning & Logistics manager in other activities as needed.
  • Supervise, mentor and train direct reports.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Decision Making Authority
  • Authorized to approve inventory expenses up to $1500 per incident.
  • Approves time cards and work schedules.
  • Responsible for recommendations regarding improving processes, products and handling.
  • Authorized to assign general ledger codes to freight invoices and represent Thermo Fisher Scientific in disputes involving payment of freight invoices.
  • Represents the department in the absence of Planning & Logistics Manager.

Specific Scope Data

  • This position directly impacts the division’s ability to serve customers with on-time deliveries.
  • Responsible for maintaining service inventory below stated divisional days of supply (DOS) goals
  • Authorized to write departmental procedures
  • Interface for customer and/or field communications as it relates directly to either the USDC or the Canada DC.
  • Ensure that customers receive the best possible delivery through monitoring of warehouse performance, freight carrier performances,and transportation arrangements.
  • Utilization of analytical skills to conduct financial analysis and assess problems
  • Some travel required (5-10%).

How will you get here?

Education:

  • BS degree in Business, Materials Management, or related field
Experience:
  • 5+ years experience in inventory/warehouse management and/or supply chain, preferably in a service environment
  • Experience in a supervisory and/or managerial position is required
  • Experience with managing a 3PL relationship is preferred
  • Working knowledge of MRP principles and materials management is required, experience in SAP is preferred
  • A combination of job related experience and ongoing educational progress may be considered in lieu of BS degree
