Job Description


Establishes and leads an integrated planning, scheduling and materials management function at the site. Works with a core Scheduling and Materials Management software package and develops the business processes required for the system to meet the site’s requirements for production and materials planning and scheduling and for reporting
all to achieve a significantly higher and more reliable level of output while improving equipment and labor utilization.

Essential Functions:

Provides leadership to assigned staff by performing the following:

leading organizational change; developing and empowering staff; cultivating relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed, meeting their personal career goals while also achieving organizational goals; building effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement and creating a climate where staff are motivated to do their best.

Establishes and manages the following key business processes at the site:

Sales and Operations planning (long term capacity planning).

Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) Production Scheduling.

Production Engineering: Creates model of products for use by the planning system: Process Flow Charts, Routers (to include labor, equipment, Quality Control (QC) tests, and Quality Assurance (QA) checks), and bills of materials.

Procurement and Sourcing – purchases materials and supplies needed for production and Research & Development support.

Warehouse and Internal Logistics – from receipt to proper disposal of materials.

Receiving and Shipping.

Inventory Control (including cycle counting).

Reporting of Metrics and Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI’s) to support continuous improvement processes.

Focuses on installation and setup of a computerized Materials Requirements, Planning/Scheduling System for improved scheduling and efficiency at the site. Requires supervision of system selection and installation, definition of unit operations and templates, and population of equipment, process, and materials databases.

Ongoing primary responsibility for performing the following activities:

Weekly Scheduling

Monthly S&OP Meeting

Issuance of Monthly Metrics & KPI’s.

Works in close cooperation with Project Management, Formulation & Process Development, Quality and Operations Management (especially Technology Transfer Specialist) to assure complete planning, readiness, and schedule adherence.

Supports special projects and teams as assigned by management.

Provides management direction and oversight of Purchasing and Materials Management Staff to assure proper performance of:

Purchasing and Inventory Management (including cycle counting)

Warehouse operation and internal logistics including Kanban supply systems for operations and laboratories

Dispensing and kitting

Receiving and shipping


Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in an Engineering discipline.


Five years of relevant experience required.


Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
