How Will You Make an Impact?

This position will operate as an internal consultant within the procurement team and across the division’s global manufacturing network to ensure successful program delivery. The role, in conjunction with relevant business partners and key stakeholders, will lead and deliver large, complex initiatives that identify, design, and implement novel business solutions for Patheon's manufacturing and development network. The role will lead project planning, business case development, management and budgeting; mobilize and manage distributed project teams; identify key stakeholders; define deliverable structure and content; facilitate buy-in of proposed solutions business unit and site leadership and site operations; direct on-time, quality delivery of work products; manage implementation economics, risk and communications.

What will you do?

  • Manage multiple projects with well-documented and organized project management skills to problem solve and support enterprise and functional objectives.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level presentations to propose key initiatives, provide critical implementation updates, operational line-of-sight, and demonstrate delivery of value within the organization.
  • Work with key stakeholders in order to achieve key milestones on time and within plan, and will develop relationships within the company in order to complete assigned projects.
  • Lead analysis to identify initiative value and business case development, through financial and options analysis, identification of required milestones and deliverables, implementation plan and resources required to achieve and ensure projects add value to the organization.
  • Apply consistent project management approaches and processes, identify and report roadblocks and variances to project plan, ensure projects are on schedule and achieve stated objectives. Coordinate with team members to identify and document resource constraints.
  • Lead global, cross-functional, geographically distributed teams to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop junior team members and interns in the development of project management skills.
  • Identify key risks and the impact of those risks on the project and through scenario planning.
  • Track and monitor timely completion of project milestones within the portfolio, plan vs. actual and report that progress as required.
  • Comply with GMP requirements and company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Understand emergency procedures and comply with safe systems of work.
Ensure compliance with environment, health and safety rules, signage and instructions at all times.• Ensure prompt reporting and investigation of all accidents, near misses and breaches of rules

How will you get there?


  • Bachelor's and/or Masters degree in finance, engineering or science. MBA desirable.
  • Experience in matrixed project management or operational planning with specific skills or experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Robust project management skills and capabilities (Gantt charts, dashboards, key deliverables, business case and baseline development)
  • Ability to project manage multiple large projects simultaneously and on time
  • Research and analytical skills to support project management effort
  • Exceptional analytical, financial modeling and problem solving skills
  • Ability to efficiently organize forums and coordinate communication with team members
  • Excellent communication skills for structuring ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Keen eye for detail with the ability to maintain standards of accuracy under tight deadlines
  • Strong proficiency in MS-Office tools (specifically, MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrate ability to make recommendations on and deliver assigned projects
  • Work independently, within a team, and collaboratively across teams
  • Lead matrix project teams of peers and other stakeholders and ability to work well within a matrix environment
  • Multi-tasking skills and planning for prioritizing personal workload
  • Able to manage change effectively and frequently
  • Experience within a pharmaceutical/cGMP, manufacturing environments
  • Willingness and ability to travel, if required. Estimated travel is 25-50%
