The Sr. Technical Sales Specialist - Next Generation Sequencing is part of the commercial organization supporting the Genetic Sciences Division (GSD) portfolio which provides high-value genomic data to assist critical decisions in research and applied markets - Quantitative PCR | Sanger Sequencing | Human Identification | AgriGenomics.
The Sr. Technical Sales Specialist - Next Generation Sequencing will have strong technical and product expertise and will serve as a technical resource for Ion platforms to the Genetic Analysis (GA) team in the pre-sales processes. The Technical Sales Specialist - Next Generation Sequencing will have ownership for driving Ion Torrent KOL success, developing high level relationships with key opinion leaders, with the purpose of making these engagements successful as positive Ion references in the market. These Ion successes are to be shared among the GA sales teams and converted into useful selling collateral for Life Technologies. The Technical Sales Specialist - Next Generation Sequencing will ensure tight alignment with the Business Unit and maintain a level of communication with the product teams focused on training needs, market feedback and product development input.
Scientific consulting acumen - demonstrates the highest level of Ion Torrent product and technical knowledge. Focus on strategic technology placements, key opinion leaders, high growth areas in the market, and significant projects that will drive overall Ion technology adoption and growth.
Business acumen - demonstrates ability to accurately determine critical customer success criteria and develops business proposals that speak to workflow advantages and create ROI with the customers and sales colleagues.
Sales acumen - accomplished sales skills, can speak with authority to competitive technologies and demonstrates value as a critical partner in the pre-sales process. Develops key partnerships with sales and GA TSS colleagues to guide opportunities through sales stages
BUSINESS PLAN DEVELOPMENT AND EXECUTION
Develops and manages to a business plan to meet or exceed business goals agreed upon with Life Technologies Commercial management for the territory.
Partners closely with the Genetic Analysis Sales Representatives and Total Account Manager, as assigned, on account planning and lead generation as identified via workflow solution opportunities.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
consistently and accurately manages sales process including sales forecasting, pipeline management, and sales tracking through the use of Seibel system and other designated IT tools.
Develops and maintains current knowledge of next generation sequencing markets, products, and buying practices required to effectively compete in the assigned territory. Utilizes product and application to successfully conduct consultative and strategic selling presentations. Understands customer goals, priorities and challenges such that Life Technologies solutions are best positioned to address customer needs.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience. A Master’s or PhD degree is desirable.
Requires a minimum of 7+ years of technical/sales experience in Life Science. Extensive knowledge of sequencing technologies required.
Knowledge of accounts in territory is preferred.
Travel: Minimum expectation is 50% travel.
