How Will You Make an Impact?
This Hardware Test Engineer provides the front-line technical support to Engineering and Operations group for the development and manufacture of camera and imaging products. The Hardware Test Engineer is also responsible for overall management of the Engineering laboratories.

What will you do?

  • With minimal guidance from senior engineering personnel, investigate and perform the necessary actions to resolve technical issues during development and manufacture of company products.
  • Perform hands-on repair work to electronic and mechanical assemblies, as needed. Repair work may include rework of fine pitch electronic components, building cable assemblies, modification of mechanical devices and fixtures using typical machine shop tools.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and configuration issues in test fixtures, prototypes, wafer probe equipment, and production products using electronic test equipment.
  • Confer with engineers, production personnel and others to generate user manuals, test procedures, and work instructions.
  • Manage the Engineering electronic laboratories.
  • Responsible for operating the Agilent parametric analyzer for testing silicon devices.
  • With minimal guidance from senior engineering personnel, specify components, fabricate prototypes, measure product performance & generate analysis reports.
  • Assist with Release to Manufacturing (RTM) - the transition of products from engineering prototype to Manufacturing.
  • Assist in production test fixture updates including hardware revisions and software installation & configuration.
  • Assist engineers in selection and qualification of new or alternate electronic components to meet RoHS compliance and radiation tolerance.
  • Assist engineers in evaluating imaging product performance at various university and government test facilities.
  • Perform verification and validation to satisfy the requirements set forth in Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
How will you get there?
  • Bachelor level degree, preferably in electronic technology or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • 2+ years of engineering or technical support experience in a high technology electronics environment.
  • 2+ years experience in component selection, prototype fabrication, troubleshooting systems, data analysis & reporting.
  • Solid understanding of schematics and troubleshooting of electronic circuits.
  • IPC-7711 Certification. Rework of Electronic Assemblies/Repair and Modification of Printed Boards and Electronic Assemblies is desired.
  • Basic knowledge of video/camera technology is a plus.
  • Knowledge in ‘5S’ methodology is desired.
  • Must have demonstrated “Customer first” attitude; a happy, friendly and courteous demeanor is a requirement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with other team members are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and thrive in a multi-project, multi-manager, multi-deadline environment.
  • Ability to work independently/in a group setting/with little direction/with direct supervision.
  • Must have excellent communication (oral/written) and an aptitude for devising and implementing solutions to novel mechanical and electronic challenges.
  • Physical activities required: kneeling, crouching, standing, pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions and fingering (typing, writing), talking, hearing (meetings, product development tasks), walking (travel between rooms), lifting (must be physically able to lift light-weight equipment or boxes)
  • Minimal travel required (1 – 3 times per year).
