That’s where you come in

As our new Product Trainer, you’ll be taking on a dynamic role that will require flexibility, inventiveness, and first-class communication skills.

In general, you’ll be developing and delivering quality training to our customers – scientists, lab technicians and automation specialists from around the world. On any given day, that could include everything from delivering a classroom training, hosting a webinar, designing a new self-service training module, working with R&D to understand our products or managing the overall training schedule.

Because our products are fairly technical in nature, you’ll need to have a desire to get into the details and understand the products inside and out. Of course, that’s only half the story, turning this knowledge into training materials and communicating them to our diverse range of customers will be as important as your technical abilities.

We’re proud of the fact that our automation is used by scientists doing different types of research all over the world. This means it would be great if you’re familiar with scientific concepts and terminology. You won’t be expected to be an expert in the science our customers do, but it helps if you can understand what they’re trying to achieve with the automation.

Our global customer base also means travel will be a big part of this role. While we’re seeing a shift to training delivered remotely, you’ll be on the road (North America, Europe and Asia) up to 75% as part of this role. This is not for everyone and so you should view the requirement for travel as an opportunity, not a curse.

Working With Us

This will be a full-time, position, with hours from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, plus regular travel of up to 75%. There is also the possibility to explore flexible working arrangements. You’ll make a great salary from the get go and Thermo Fisher provides an attractive benefits package.

Qualifications

In addition to a great attitude and a desire to take our training program to the next level, we’re looking for someone with the following qualifications:

• Three years experience in a training or advanced technical support role
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in training, communication, technology or related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel frequently (60 to 70%) in Canada, US, Europe and Asia
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite of tools.

Possession of any of the following skills would be an additional advantage:

• Experience using (or providing training/support on) scientific or laboratory equipment
• Experience working in a technical or scientific setting
• Knowledge of training creation and delivery software tools.
• Any additional languages including Mandarin, French and German.
