The Mission
Our Worldwide Operations organization is responsible for Component and System Manufacturing (Production), Product Engineering, Global Materials &Logistics, Global Sourcing & Supplier Management, and Document Control.

Main Responsibilities

  • Is the expert within Thermo Fisher Scientific for various thin film silicon sensor technologies for electron, X-ray and electron backscatter detection, including large array detectors for photons or electrons in CMOS or CCD technology.
  • Is in projects the technical contact person towards detector and image sensor suppliers to agree on requirements, improve designs and address problems.
  • Challenges supplier proposals, validates the performance and is involved in integration of the sensors in camera and detector modules.
  • Is knowledgeable in sensor assembly technologies.
  • Gives advice in supply chain setup to optimize yield from sensor foundry until camera / detector module assembly.
  • Keeps an overview of developments in the market in strong cooperation with the pre-development department of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
  • Assists Program Managers and System Architects in negotiating engineering responses to marketing requirements resulting in focused plans for a new product, feature or enhancement.
  • Translates system requirements into detector and image sensor requirements based on business unit needs and technology available in the market.
  • Interacts with and understand customers imaging and detection application needs. Translates application user needs to detector / imager requirements.
  • Participate in detector / image sensor design house and foundries selection based on a broad industrial overview.
  • Is capable of optimizing detector technology on image quality topics such as MTF, DQE, dark noise etc.
  • Works with management to ensure a robust platform and stable supply chain. Promote the re-use of components and designs between product lines and efficient use of engineering resources.
  • Provides input to technology roadmaps (mainly detector and image sensor related) based on corporate goals, marketing roadmaps, technology and industry trends. Keep both a long term and short term view of new opportunities for our products


  • Requires 5+ years of experience in image sensor and/or detector development or their integration in modules
  • A strong background in imaging SOCs is desired
  • Knowledge of thin film silicon CCD or CMOS product development cycle, including specification, back-end integration, manufacturing and system integration
  • Experience with image sensor and / or detector design
  • Knowledge about detector technologies is required, not only on sensor physics and signal processing path, but also on manufacturing as well as on product integration aspects
  • Ability to work in complex engineering programs
  • Proven experience in systems and sub systems developments including system design, integration, error budgeting, and analysis
  • Ability to analyze how new detector technology can be used in next generation products
  • Knowledge about detector technologies is required, not only on sensor physics and signal processing path, but also on manufacturing as well as on product integration aspects
  • Experience with SEM-TEM is a plus
