Job Description

Job Duties:

  • Supporting Chemical Inventory Management processes and projects including, but not limited to:
    • Processing daily data maintenance of the CISPro Chemical Management Database, including the Potential Peroxide Forming Material tracking system and data entry auditing
    • Supporting of CisPro system upgrade and documentation
  • Maintenance of Solvent Delivery System Reference Information Binders (system drawings, daily procedures, parts lists, start up/shut down procedures, etc.) for all current and future solvent systems (B362, 368, 355, NB357 and 324)
  • Supporting Lecture Bottle Cylinder replenishment program
  • Supporting Chemical Management and Solvent Services SOP or WI updates
  • Supporting DEA/DOJ controlled substances program compliance which may include ordering of controlled substances as part of Replenishment Services
  • Coordinating lab compliance safety inspections with all relevant personnel
  • Assisting with laboratory compliance and safety inspections of laboratory spaces by documenting inspection findings/action items
  • Creating lab inspection data reports for presentation for various departments by extracting data from lab inspection software
  • Tracking completion of any corrective actions/action items from laboratory safety compliance inspection findings
  • Data entry and QA of the Sphera/Compliance Manager software platforms.
  • Reconciliation of inspection reports for all life safety equipment ( fire extinguishers, eyewash and safety shower station, chemical spill kits, first aid kits, AEDs, and oxygen cylinders) to verify that all equipment inspections are properly documented on a monthly basis
  • Conducting field quality ‘spot checks’ of life safety equipment inspections.
  • Assisting with various administrative duties (e.g. filing, spreadsheet data entry, auditing, in-person lab inspections) to support safety programs associated with laboratories and chemical storage areas such as Radiation Safety Program, Controlled Substances or Compressed Gas Programs
  • Coordinating and scheduling Life Safety Equipment trainings with enrolled attendees
  • Supporting additional Chemical Hygiene Safety Program tasks
  • Participate in professional educational programs to maintain skill levels and certifications.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of EHS as it relates to service organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement requirements of CALOsha, OSHA, DOT, FAA, NFPA, NEC, RCRA, EPA, NRC, ADA, ANSI and ISO-14001 Certification.
    • Familiarity with exposure levels to chemical and physical agents.
    • Familiarity with chemical incompatibilities.
  • Broad operational EHS experience in a large service based company environment.
  • Strong skills in the delivery and deployment of EHS services to diverse and dispersed user groups located at multiple sites.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant development year over year.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental or related field from four-year College or university and/or five plus years related work experience preferred.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding capacity to make decisions or recommendations based on potentially incomplete information.
  • Project management skills and understanding of project management lifecycle.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Ability to successfully lead projects to completion on time and within budget.
  • Ability to make final decisions on administrative or operational matters.
  • Ability to quickly understand the business and EHS’s impact on its success.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong skills in relationship building and constituent management – the ability to bring compromise to situations between multiple constituents with different viewpoints/ motivations.
  • Strong computer/software skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, etc.)
  • Cispro experience is a plus

Physical/Environmental Requirements

Physical activities: Chemical handling and personal protective equipment worn when required. Level of visual acuity: Professional Working conditions: Well-lit, quiet engineering cubicles and labs. Exposure to hazardous chemicals or emergency situations as needed. Equipment/Tools: Personal computer, telephone, fax machine, mechanical equipment, variety of facilities equipment.

Interaction with customers (internal/external)

  • Interact with clients and vendors.
  • Interact with representatives from all areas of the business and manage inter-disciplinary projects.
  • Interact with site-level staff, providing project updates and input regarding future potential projects as necessary.
  • Communication skills must be sufficient to potentially negotiate problem resolution internally throughout the division and externally with customers.
