The Manufacturing Engineer III – Manufacturing Engineer provides support to value streams through process improvements, driving to root-cause on process, product and component issues, and assists with standardizing assembly processes, tools and assembly aids. This position ensures designs are robust by creating, reviewing, and editing drawings, work instructions, and BOMs as required in an ISO / FDA regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for updating parts/assemblies and/or drawing modifications.
  • Manages 1 or more operations projects related to new product introductions, cell lay-out, and large-scale process improvements.
  • Provides technical direction to other manufacturing engineers and technicians.
  • Works with the quality engineering team to identify opportunities for improving yields and reducing waste within the value stream.
  • Develops and drives project plans for new product integration.
  • Uses Lean tools such as 5s, value stream mapping, and poka-yoke.
  • Participates and/or leads Kaizen activities.
  • Acts as the operations liaison in concurrent engineering teams to ensure DFM/DFT needs are communicated and met.
  • Performs time studies to establish baseline data to drive improvements and measure successes.
  • Creates and maintains work instructions and device history records.
  • Writes and approves Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Product Release forms, sourcing changes, part and other items as directed by functional procedures.
  • Participate in MRB reviews to help determine and resolve root-cause.
  • Works with management to ensure required training is complete and up-to-date.
  • This position requires a high degree of interaction with management and employees of all levels within the organization.
  • Individuals must regularly interact with design engineering, marketing, sales, and service personnel.
  • Stays abreast of the latest manufacturing process technologies and makes recommendations to adopt when appropriate.
How will you get there?
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution and 5 or more years experience in an engineering role.
  • Masters degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution and 3 or more years experience in an engineering role.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience with capital equipment justification and managing capital projects.
  • Expert with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio)
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing concepts and practices
  • General understanding of ERP systems (MAPICS, SAP)
