Summary


This individual is responsible for leading the North American marketing and merchandising strategy for the Lab Products category within the Fisher Scientific channel. The Marketing Manager, reporting into the Director, Marketing North America, will drive category-based marketing initiatives - developed based on strong interface with the larger product category team and customers - to ensure the channel is positioned to meet customer needs, drive growth and support business priorities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • North American marketing lead for the Lab Products category with responsibility to develop marketing/merchandising/promotional strategies in alignment with and support of the goals and objective established by the overall category team for the Research & Safety Division
  • Gather and report on market trends, dynamics & competitive intelligence to drive market development and SOW gains. By means of key customer engagement, sales discussions and other internal or external sources, amass new category trends and demands, identify potential strategic growth initiatives, and create a platform to monitor and act upon these opportunities.
  • Drive identified marketing strategies by partnering with the Campaign Strategy and Planning team as they develop campaign strategies and tactical plans designed to deliver on established goals
  • Develop yearly platforms focused on customer growth, acquisition and retention, including marketing initiatives to drive YOY segment growth and realize opportunity
  • Responsible for establishing growth forecast for the Annual Operating and Strategic Plans and quarterly updates that synthesize sources of funding, economic data, competitive analysis and other primary/secondary information sources.

     

  • Establish relationships with key stakeholder partners in North America to ensure the channel is positioned to meet the existing and emerging needs in this market space, including but not limited to Commercial teams, Market Insight & Analytics teams, Portfolio Management, Finance, etc.

 

  • Serve as strategic category planning lead, partnering with key stakeholders for annual STRAP and AOP development and processes

 

  • Serve as category lead for key meetings and conferences including but not limited to National Sales Meeting, Commercial Manager Meetings, MBR/QBRs, etc.

 

  • Collaborate with EU partners as needed/warranted by segment function

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

     

  • 7+ years of lab industry experience, preferably in business development or marketing strategy

     

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field. An advanced degree in business or science is preferred.

     

  • Solid understanding of market and customer segmentation approaches

     

  • Understanding of channel relationships/distribution business model highly desired

     

  • Experience with driving strategic initiatives for customers of varying scope preferred, spanning from large scale customers to small- mid opportunities

     

  • Experience working with in house market insight and analytics resources while also building an independent approach to sourcing information to guide efforts

     

  • Ability to function in a complex, matrix business environment is essential

     

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation experience to large and diverse audiences

     

  • Some travel required (up to 25%)

     

    Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:
