About Bend, Oregon
90% of new drug candidates have bioavailability challenges, some of which can be overcome by improving drug solubility. Known as the “Solubility Center of Excellence”, the Bend, Oregon site team of over 70 employees focuses on scientific drug-delivery solutions for our customers. Our services include pre-formulation characterization and technology screening, analytical services including stability studies, formulation design and process development, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) clinical-scale manufacturing of tablets and capsules.
How will you make an impact?
At the Oregon Regional Patheon Development Services (ORP) site you will be involved in a fast-paced and hands-on pharmaceutical development environment. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to apply your collegiate knowledge and experience in an R&D and cGMP laboratory while assisting trained scientists and engineers and gaining industry experience for yourself. What will you do?
· Assist scientists with experimental planning, execution, analysis and communication of lab results, as well as assist with the evaluation and disposition of analytical data.
· Follow procedures to maintain Good Lab Practices (GLP) while cleaning laboratory glassware, disposing of waste and maintaining lab equipment.
· Support special projects which may include inventory reconciliation and stability project evaluation and close out.
As an Intern, you will support the Analytical Development scientists as well as develop an understanding of working in a development and GMP laboratory environment.
How will you get here?
Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university (sophomore/junior/senior year) and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Science, engineering or other related disciplines preferred.
· 1+ years of experience in lab environment preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
· Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills preferred.
· Ability to work independently, strong computer skills and attention to detail required.
Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office and laboratory locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-35 pound pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time.
