Job Title: Vertical Marketing Manager – Pharma & BioPharma
Group/Division: CMD Life Science

Summary
The Vertical Marketing Manager has responsibility for executing vertical marketing strategy, campaign development, vertical content, collateral development, and commercial team training for the Pharma & BioPharma market. This position will help build and nurture the Thermo Fisher Scientific brand and utilize voice-of-customer (VOC) to gauge customer perception and formulate action plans. The position is an integral part of the global marketing team and is a key interface with divisional marketing, strategic marketing, product marketing, commercial and regional teams. They support marketing planning and provide a view into strategic vertical market opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive vertical market strategy and support annual operating plan development with multiple business units, regional marketing and commercial organization and ensure strategic plan alignment.
  • Plan vertical campaigns to be deployed globally. Gauge and improve marketing performance and ROI.
  • Drive next generation instrumentation strategy with business units.
  • Identify, build statements of work and project manage collaborations with Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Capture Voice of Customer to be repurposed in various marketing tactics.
  • Build sales training content in the enablement of the commercial organization.
  • Manage and grow perception and visibility Thermo Fisher Scientific products, workflows and services to the Pharma & BioPharma industries. Utilize VOC to validate change.
  • Contribute to campaign messaging and create go to market deployment strategies.
  • Analyze and report out market, competitive, and application trends as well as new workflow opportunities for the assigned market areas.
  • Design and manage post-launch product workflow specific campaigns to support growth initiatives for the assigned market areas.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry. MSc, Ph.D., or MBA highly desirable.
  • 5 years’ work experience with analytical or scientific technology.
  • Significant instrument market knowledge and keen understanding of Pharma, Biopharma or BioProcess industries. Work experience in those industries is highly desirable.
  • Commercial, sales training, project management, product management or product marketing experience would be an advantage.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of formulating global and/or vertical strategies.
  • Ability to improve marketing ROI to directly impact revenue.
  • Excellent strategic thinker with solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, execute and measure with a strong sense of urgency to drive results.
  • Skilled in formulating and managing collaborations, sharing strategy, socializing tactics and reporting project progress.
  • Strong ability to form relationships with Commercial and Business Unit counterparts and influence without authority.
  • Ability to respond to commercial, market and internal stakeholder needs.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple parallel projects.
  • Ability to capture and interpret qualitative and quantitative Voice of Customer (VOC) or Voice of Key Opinion Leaders (VOKOL)
  • Ability and confidence to engage with KOLs.
  • Ability to distill key product or workflow tenets into impactful value propositions and marketing content.
