Job Description

Position Summary:

Direct and coordinate efforts of the production personnel in their area of responsibility by supporting, planning, organizing, and controlling production with a constant goal of increasing efficiency, quality, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow policies and standards set forth in the Thermo Fisher MBD Employee Handbook. Be an example to others.
  • Follow all written procedures. Report discrepancies in procedures (SOP’s, DHR’s etc.) to the Area Supervisor.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. Refer to job specific Job Safety Analysis.
  • Perform all work activities in a safe manner while maintaining a safe and clutter free work area. Report property damage and/or safety hazards to the Supervisor, Human Resources, Safety Specialist or Senior Management immediately.
  • Listen to, follow and relay written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Document accurately and check personal work for quality and compliance.
  • Demonstrate job functions to coworkers as needed.
  • Maintain and promote Quality within all aspects of department, including product and paperwork completion.
  • Work cooperatively and efficiently with coworkers in all departments with little supervision to achieve team, department and company goals. Responsible for ensuring the safe and proper performance against written SOP’s.
  • Organize production flow, making sure that materials are available, estimating progress of line, and scheduling breaks while corresponding to production time and line schedules.
  • Perform document review and production quality and efficiency checks.
  • Maintain a disciplined environment and enforce departmental and company policies.
  • Meet production goals by efficiently delegating tasks and job direction.
  • Investigate and remedy, when possible, production failures.
  • Educate and train employees in the safe and correct performance of assigned duties.
  • Ensure production lines are staffed with properly trained personnel for the particular
  • product while assisting with set-up and machine adjustments when necessary.
  • Revise line production if necessary to accommodate increases/decreases in production.
  • Write and submit to supervisor investigational reports as needed.
  • Review and submit attendance reports to supervisor for approval.
  • Assist in performance evaluations.
  • Notify supervisor of personnel problems as they arise.
  • Coordinate efforts to help other departments when necessary.
  • Oversee the proper distribution of DHR’s and the products associated with them.
  • Review and track current yields of products being dispensed.
  • Initiate appropriate paperwork for Document Change Requests, discard/remake's, etc
  • Operate machinery and check for simple maintenance as needed.
  • Handle packaged animal blood and, if necessary, human blood.
  • Demonstrate job functions to coworkers as needed.
  • Comply with all company personnel policies. Ensure that employees are within
  • compliance standards.

    In addition, other duties may be assigned as the business need warrants.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Must be able to speak, write and communicate in the English language.
  • Lift up to 30 lbs. Push/pull up to 600 lbs wheeled kettles.
  • Stand for sustained periods of time, approximately 10 hours a day.
  • Walk short distances, maneuvering self around machinery and co-workers.
  • Ability to see in color.
