Position Summary:

The Strategic Vertical Manager is a strategic marketer who has equal industry, strategy and marketing experience. The role requires a leader who is able to think outside the box, works well in ambiguity, able to communicate and influence across position level and location. This role requires someone who is as comfortable with data as he/she is with meeting customers. While an individual contributor position, the role is the leader responsible for driving of the resources of an almost 100 strong organization which crosses marcom, corporate accounts, ebusiness, PR, internal communication, CSR, analytics, business development, market intelligence, corporate development and government affairs and cross business divisions


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive corporate strategy and leadership for your vertical markets
  • Develop Value Propositions for Thermo Fisher Full portfolio in verticals
  • Based on developed strategy & value proposition in verticals, create and execute strategic marketing integrated campaigns to deliver integrated messages to the market including, x division events, digital marketing, KOL community management as well as translate policies and regulatory/ influence and participate new regulatory process; Participate BD projects to contribute driving cross divisional business growth
  • Align on strategy and implementation with key function and division partners across position levels, location
  • Drive cross division commercial activities to present Thermo Fisher Full Portfolio/Solutions in the market in order to bringing incremental business growth through synergizing the approach by launching innovated marketing /commercial projects
  • Key Activities this position will undertake include:
    • Strategy Development

        • Policy identification and Standards analysis
        • Customer survey and needs analysis
        • 135 Plan Data collection & analysis
      • Create corporate strategy for vertical
        • Determine segments, targeting and positioning
        • Determine key communication message and content
        • Determine target competitors and weaknesses
      • Align with division marketing partners
        • Develop segment sharing tools
        • Align on key events and messages
        • Coordinate on key activities
        • Host vertical summit
    • Integrated vertical campaigns & x div events
      • Together with the campaign manager develop 1 integrated corp vertical campaigns
        • Thought leadership series and targeted KOL
        • Digital messages and content
        • X-division events
        • Social media & online
        • Strategic partners (as nec)
        • Telesales
        • Lead 1 large corp strategic program
    • Digital Marketing
      • Implement thought leadership strategy
        • Consolidate/develop/manage content development, blog, white papers, webinars, etc as makes sense
        • Vertical capacity, solutions and marketing tools
    • Regulatory
      • Monitor/communicate regulatory trends together with Government Affairs
      • Lead/participate in regulatory and standards influencing together with government affairs
    • Analytics
      • Work with Analytics Team to develop tools in support of the divisions based on internal and external data
      • Drive leads, sales and marketing opportunities
    • Adjacent Markets / Business Development
      • Identify emerging opportunities
      • BD with target customers as required

Education & Working experience:

  • B.S. Degree in scientific field, advanced marketing degree preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in environmental or industrial (eg, metal, non-metal, petrochemical etc)marketing, sales and/or research
  • Strong track record of managing key opinion leader relationships to produce substantial proof of competitive benefit
  • Demonstrated ability to identify key buying influences and develop compelling value proposition statements that drive customer behavior
