Job Description

The Training Manager will be responsible for leading the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) training operations team. The successful candidate will perform all the day-to-day management duties required to support the EMEA training team. Key management functions will be coaching and developing the team, developing and maintaining training processes, collaborating with other internal Training departments, liaising with Global Training teams, and maintaining EMEA training facilities as Centers of Excellence for Service, Support and Customer Training. The position plays a critical role in increasing visibility of regional training efforts and help coordinating alignment between regional and global project work. The Training manager is the single point of contact for the region and the voice of training to the global team. The Training manager will work directly with the EMEA Sr. Manager Technical Support and Global Services and Support (GSS) EMEA leaders to drive EMEA Customer Training Revenue.

The role will be responsible for the following areas:

- Operations of CECs and General management of the Team (4 to 6 individuals)
- Internal Training operations (Field Service Engineers, Field Application Specialists and Technical Application Specialists)
- External Training (Customer Training operations; alignment of EMEA training efforts, single voice of contact for EMEA training)
- Strategic initiatives (Market trends (with Product Managers); new training product development; growth initiatives (qPCR tour role out)

Essential Functions

• Perform the day-to-day duties managing the EMEA Training team and Training operations
• Establish and adhere to the EMEA training budget and oversight of lab facilities and assets
• Establish training calendars, monitor attendance, and coordinate with Global training calendars
• Establish and maintain SOPs for all Training activities
• Drive utilization and profitability of EMEA Training sites and monitor and report on training metrics
• Provide regular forums of discussion with Training team members and larger organization
• Provide timely and effective coaching to Training Specialists
• Partner with Global Services and Support (GSS) Leadership team to address forecasted training needs
• Partner with Learning Management System (LMS) Training Specialist to ensure attendee compliance
• Assist in the implementation of the Training Certification process for Services and Support organization
• Partner with Global Service Training team to ensure consistent course content
• Contribute to new product introductions, review and improvement processes for training curriculum
• Maintain Customer Satisfaction and Customer Allegiance Score targets
• Identify market trends and develop innovative new training offerings for customers hand in hand with our US team colleagues
• Partner with Marketing/Product Management and Global Training organization to productize Training
• Identify and work with key opinion leaders to build strong training networks and offer training programs
• Actively works with GSS leadership team to define, implement and execute EMEA training strategy


*Minimum Qualifications (must have)

Requires a PhD in Science or Engineering or related field and 5+ years managing people in a commercial environment or related experience.
Certified Project management background.

• Strong Leadership skills and ability to work in a complex, pressure filled and highly demanding environment, adapting swiftly to changing priorities
• Strong commercial focus with ability to clearly communicate technical information at a high level
• Interpersonal and leadership and networking skills sufficient to plan and execute complex, intra departmental and global projects
• Excellent understanding of field service, support, and/or customer training within Biotechnology or related discipline
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven track of personal excellence; organizational skills

• Proven track of identifying and implementing innovative solutions
