The Regional Sales Manager is a key commercial position within the Thermo Fisher Scientific Environment Process Monitoring (EPM) business unit.

The main responsibilities of this position is using ones sales expertise in order to lead all sales and commercial activities within the defined region, for all industries related to Mercury Emission Monitory Systems (Hg CEMS) and for the Environmental Monitoring product range, selling directly to the end users as well as engineering procurement companies and systems integrators. Additionally one is responsible for the development and implementation of territory selling strategies to secure sales growth consistent with the EPM business unit Annual Operating Plan (AOP).


Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promote the Environmental EPM business for the assigned products and territory to realize AOP bookings and revenues
  • Direct the account management activities for the territory to drive account expansion and penetration; develop long-term relationships and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Maintain accurate and current records of proposals, opportunities, accounts, contacts, leads and actions through Salesforce.com CRM system
  • Interface directly with customers to lead or assist in the selling process
  • Lead Key Account activities for high value accounts
  • Plan, organize and accurately forecast territory results on a weekly basis
  • Work directly with Customer Support function to ensure that quotations, order entry and customer support processes are efficient and supportive of assigned industry customers and sales team needs

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • A successfully completed Bachelor or Master’s degree or equivalent within a technical discipline
  • Experience in the environmental & process monitoring industry either in a sales or customer-facing role would be ideal however is not mandatory
  • At least 2 years’ of technical sales experience within the industrial/chemical industry is a must
  • Experience in working with independent selling channels as assigned
  • Experience in working strategic accounts – Key Account Development and selling skills should be clearly demonstrated
  • A proven track record in achieving sales quotas
  • Fluency in German (written & spoken) is a pre-requisite
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills in English and German
  • A team player with ability to interface across internal and external complex matrix organization
  • Ability to persuade, influence and negotiate with key stakeholders
    Available for up to 75 % business travel (70% of this travel would be taking place in Germany, 30% within DACH)
  • Experience in using Salesforce.com and other CRM systems is of advantage
  • Experienced in using Outlook and MS office suite is a pre-requisite
  • Valid driving license
Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:
  1. Technical sales experience in Germany
  2. A proven track record in achieving sales quotas
  3. Available for up to 75% customer interfacing time
