(Associate) Commercial Product Manager (m/f) - Laboratory Equipment and Instruments

We are currently seeking a dedicated (Associate) Commercial Product Manager (CPM) to join our global sales channel known under the brand name; Fischer Scientific. You will be responsible for the following product segment; Laboratory Equipment and Instruments.

Portfolio Management holds a strategic and influential role that underpins the commercial success of the Fisher Scientific Business Unit. In the CPM role you will be using and developing your product knowledge, commercial and leadership capabilities to build credibility and professional influence within the management and sales organizations. A day may involve enhancing our customers’ access to product information, developing business development strategies and improving commercial terms with suppliers, building a product launch, or working alongside our commercial sales teams to position and promote your portfolio to gain increasing market share. The work environment demands a responsive yet thoughtful approach and delivers a range of challenges to rapidly enhance and refine your commercial acumen both pan European and in local markets

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement European Product Management strategic business plans to the strategy to local country level in an effective and appropriate manner. This includes sales force communication, customer service and marketing liaison
  • Ensure that the stakeholders understand the product positioning strategy, advise on margin targets for suppliers/product ranges through a Brand Selection Tool
  • Arrange supplier training to the commercial, technical and quotations teams to keep the technical knowledge of the teams at a sector leading level
  • Presentation of new products, strategies and promotions on the monthly sales webcast, including localization and translation
  • Analyze monthly sales and margin figures to understand current sales performance Quarter to Date and Year to Date against annual operating plan for the category and underlying product categories. Using standard pivot tables/graphs to analyze data to understand trends, growth and gaps. Investigate the drivers of the highlights and issues to provide feedback on Monthly business review calls. Use the data to prioritize actions.
  • Be the local contact point for supplier and product feedback from the Local Internal stakeholders. Provide two-way communication, so that central strategies can be delivered locally. Use digital communication (Email, Chatter and Yammer) and personal networks to gather information and feedback. Communicate important information to the European Product Management team for evaluation and decision making. Monitor local competitive activities and report important information to the relevant stakeholders
  • To be the local contact point for are purely local suppliers and ‘local’ entities of our European suppliers. To provide supporting role for local supplier business reviews through the provision of sales data extracts, market dynamics and feedback from the field for regular business reviews. Work with the European Commercial Managers and Director to develop local supplier strategies and action plans.
  • Manage annual price roll for selected Local suppliers and limited smaller European suppliers. Price supplier’s files using pre-defined pricing rules, making modifications to the rules to ensure profitability will be maintained or improved. Provide price roll data for the Category Managers/Director to ensure local negotiations of can be completed.

Candidate Experience and Qualifications:
  • Candidates should ideally have a Master’s or PHD degree in Science or business
  • Candidates with a minimum of 2 years commercial experience are preferred however we would also take PHD graduates with a Science background into consideration. Commercial work experience or placements would also be an advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer orientation and problem solving, can-do attitude
  • Ability to prioritize workload to manage deadlines along with longer-term projects and strategic initiatives
  • Fluent in German (verbal & written), business proficiency in English is mandatory
  • Have an excellent knowledge of Microscoft Office packages (Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
