Job Title: Social Media Specialist
Location: Sunnyvale, CA preferred; other locations will be considered, including remote.

Job Description Summary:

The Social Media Specialist is responsible for social media strategy and tactical execution of compelling social media campaigns for the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD). The senior specialist will develop social media campaigns to support marketing objectives, scale them globally, perform ongoing testing and optimization to meet social media growth goals, monitor social metrics and develop reports. This role is focused on ensuring engaging and strategic project execution and will interact with internal stakeholders and cross-functional project teams throughout Thermo Fisher in order to drive brand awareness, engage both current and potential customers and grow the social community.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead social media strategy and discover new innovation ways to grow the social community.
  • Drive ideation and execution of KPI-driven social media campaigns.
  • Develop organic and paid social media plans for each major business and market to reach target audiences and lead goals within budget.
  • Evaluate campaign performance, make strategic recommendations and adjust accordingly.
  • Source a pipeline of relevant content from inside and outside the organization and write for social media audiences and platforms.
  • Lead social reporting and analytics across social channels, building reports on an ongoing basis.
  • Partner with multiple internal and external partners to bring many facets of the brand’s social presence to life, including occasional live event coverage.
  • Manage editorial calendar development for all social channels, including content curation and copywriting (channels include, but are not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+ and Pinterest).
  • Write, edit, design and publish content for multiple social media channels, including video content.
  • Monitor and respond to engagement on social channels.
  • Deliver daily tactical support and leadership for social deliverables.
  • Act as social media point of contact and subject matter expert and coach marketing team members on best practices.
  • Coordinate consistent cross-channel digital media experiences with digital marketing team.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with Thermo Fisher Scientific policies and applicable laws.
  • Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific by clearly and consistently communicating Thermo Fisher Scientific mission, vision, values and objectives to both our employees and end-user customers.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field from an accredited institution or equivalent professional qualification or work experience; advanced degree preferred. High school diploma/equivalent required.
  • 5+ years experience in marketing, communications or digital marketing roles including demonstrated success in social media.
  • Expertise with best practices and functionality of major social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, etc.
  • Expertise in the deployment of paid advertising campaigns within Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Experience with social media monitoring and analytics tools (i.e. Hootsuite, Adobe Analytics, etc.).
  • Follower of social media trends including the emergence of new social media channels and social media tools.
  • Knowledge of social media relationship to SEO, SEM, display advertising and email marketing.
  • Track record in achieving or exceeding commercial management objectives on a consistent basis.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (English).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with social media channels; experience with development of social media campaigns, from a professional perspective
  • Strong writing and editing skills; comfortable working with scientific topics
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
