The Product Marketing Engineer (PME) is a technical specialist responsible for delivering high quality technical presentations in support of electron microscopy sales, understanding technical and market trends in electron microscopy, and driving growth by relaying value-based differentiators to potential customers. The PME must be an expert in the field of scanning electron/ion microscopy (SEM/FIB). The PME must have the ability to clearly articulate the technical differentiators of a product and also work with the Product Management teams to continually improve our products. Additionally, the position will also assist in managing business development activities that achieve lead generation and pipeline growth. This position is ideal for an experienced professional wanting to be involved with a dynamic team and exposure to a constant variety of customer application areas.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with Channel Partners and Thermo Fisher Scientific Account Managers will be part of a daily routine
  • Organize workshops and seminars by working closely with the marketing development manager and product marketing managers
  • Assist in the development of sales support collateral including brochures, applications notes, product data sheets, competitive matrices, and technical presentations
  • Develop and present technical papers at professional symposia, author technical articles for trade press, are the subject matter expert
  • Support product launch activities and assist with Tradeshows, Conferences and Technical Sales Training or Channel Partner Training activities
  • Respond to customer or field inquiries, assist with Technical rRquest for Proposals (RFPs) and work with a cross-functional team of product managers, sales managers and applications engineers
  • Assist in the execution of marketing campaigns (on-line and through events) by working closely with the Outbound Marketing Manager
  • Assist in executing annual operations plans that drive lead generation and pipeline growth




Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in science, marketing or engineering is required with 3-5 years additional experience in electron microscopy. Masters or Ph.D. preferred
  • 5 or more years of progressively responsible experience in SEM/FIB
  • Extensive Materials Science customer interaction and field experience
  • Driven, with an entrepreneurial spirit and sense of urgency
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Systematic problem solving by working with customers and account team
  • Confident presentation skills and creating materials for presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Ability to work in good cooperation within an account team
  • Must be self-motivated and enjoy challenges
  • Must be resourceful, proactive and a team player
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and possessing a high level of integrity
  • Ability to travel up to 50% regionally within the United States and internationally
