Job Description
Part of the Chemical Analysis Division, the Liverpool, NY business unit designs and manufactures solid-state video cameras, imaging devices, and software. The business unit also provides support services for a variety of industries including scientific imaging, imaging in radiation environments, medical imaging (including phosphor coatings for X-ray imagers), machine vision, and others.

Job Summary: Performs a variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly operations on solid-state cameras and sub-assemblies according to established documentation.


Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:
  • Assemble mechanical, optical, and electronic components and sub-assemblies in a Class 10,000 clean room environment.
  • Perform manual and automatic die attach, epoxy dispense and wire binding operations on a variety of solid-state imaging devices.
  • Hand assemble and solder electronic circuit boards according to schematics and/or wiring diagrams.
  • Modify or repair circuit board wiring and components as directed by technicians or engineers.
  • Assemble wire and cable harnesses according to wiring diagrams using a variety of hand tools, including wire cutters, strippers, crimpers, heat guns, etc.
  • Test electronic assemblies for functionality using ohm-meters, voltage meters, and automated test equipment.

Other Job Requirements:
  • Ability to perform intricate manual assembly operations under high magnification.
  • Knowledge of thru-hole and surface mount electrical component identification and placement.
  • Familiarity with electronic industry quality standards such as ANSI/IPC-A-610.
  • Knowledge of the causes of electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage and methods for the prevention of ESD damage.
  • Knowledge of Clean Room best practices.
  • Team player, willing to work closely with others on a wide variety of assembly tasks.
  • Willing to work in a fast paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in use of Microsoft Excel helpful.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.

Educational Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED.

Experience Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in electronics and/or quality systems;
  • ISO 9000:2001 internal auditor training and experience helpful.
