The Engineer II, Manufacturing Engineering role is highly collaborative and is essential in ensuring on-time product delivery by supporting process automation. This role also requires supporting existing production equipment, in the form of developing robust preventive maintenance procedures as well as troubleshooting and repairing equipment to ensure a high level of uptime.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize knowledge of engineering principles in connection with executing responsibilities, which include process improvement, problem resolution, project management, and employee training
  • Provide support to manufacturing departments by collecting and process information related to assigned projects, evaluating all information and alternatives, preparing and presenting plans including ROI, and recommending a course of action to management
  • Prepare cost estimates and ROI for proposals, including preparing Capital Requests
  • Coordinate the implementation of new or revised processes, including but not limited to:
    • Characterizing TDX processes (including performing time-studies and value stream mapping) on new equipment & processes to determine optimal run settings, where required
    • Writing IQ/OQ/PQ protocols
    • Executing IQ/OQ/PQ studies and writing reports
    • Updating manufacturing procedures
    • Training of team members
  • Monitor performance of equipment/machines/tools and manufacturing processes
  • Analyze and solve a range of engineering problems from basic technical problems to complex problems that require: the analysis of situations or data; an in-depth evaluation of various factors; and/or a new, innovative approach or breakthrough in technology
  • Manage (i.e., plans, organizes, and executes) project assignments of varying complexity; prioritize projects; determine project goals; maintain project schedule and track milestones; select methods and techniques to lead a project to completion; evaluate outcomes
  • Work with Production Managers, Technical Operations, Quality, and PPI team to improve manufacturing processes, line layouts, fixture design, equipment validations (IOPQ), FAT, capability studies, documentation, LEAN techniques, Value Stream Mapping, etc.
  • Assess and resolved packaging problems and assess opportunities for cost reduction and waste elimination
  • Meet individual performance expectations focusing on Quality, Safety, and Delivery
  • Ensure all processes and teams are in the adherence of GMP
  • Ensure compliance with corporate, site, and regulatory policies, practices, and guideline
  • Perform planned maintenance for production automation equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline such as Manufacturing Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related studies
  • Two (2) years of experience in manufacturing engineering in an IVD industry or GMP, ISO regulated Medical Device manufacturing environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all functions of the business
  • Good organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment in execution of duties
  • Effectively communicate with peers, management, customers, and a vast variety of cross functional team members
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members
  • Plan and organize oneself in a consistent manner
  • Self-starter with the ability to positively motivate others in a cooperative fashion
  • Excellent problem solving and written/verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer MSOffice skills and experience
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
  • Working knowledge of LEAN concepts
  • Working knowledge of designing and executing Equipment Qualifications across the range of complexity
