Role summary:

We are looking for the Senior Manager, Site Operations Finance to lead the finance team across our American, European and African production facilities in partnering with the business’s Operations, Supply Chain and Sourcing leadership to drive productivity, improve quality and achieve operational excellence for the Microbiology Division (MBD).
Responsibilities:

  • Manage operations finance leads at our 7 major operational facilities; develop team and elevate overall team performance
  • Drive sourcing savings, PPI/productivity and other initiatives across multiple operations sites
  • Strong business partnering with Operations, Supply Chain and Sourcing leadership
  • Improve cash flow management through optimization of inventory turns at all sites
  • Drive excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory management and reduction across sites; develop method to forecast and proactivity manage E&O as well as expiry and other scrap
  • Perform ROI financial analysis/justifications of manufacturing site investment and cost reduction projects, including financial modelling to ensure appropriate resource allocation and return on investment
  • Manage capital expenditures process – review and approve expenditures, help drive projects to timely completion, manage spend against budgeted allowances and forecast spend timing
  • Implement and oversee appropriate systems, control/process standards, accounting principles, policies and reporting practices including inventory cycle counting procedures and fixed asset impairment
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial/strategic planning activity for the BPD operations function. Work with business to ensure targets are achieved
  • Develop and utilize proactive, early indicator reporting metrics to communicate financial risk or opportunities in a timely manner to senior management
  • Prepare and present monthly MBD financial and operational reporting & bridge commentary
  • Drive continuous process improvement within the finance function
  • Ad hoc projects as required
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Professional accountancy qualification - ACA/CA/CIMA/ACCA (UK) or CPA/CMA (USA)
  • Advanced user of MS Office Suite – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Clear communication skills, written and verbal, including the ability to effectively communicate with non-finance colleagues
  • Significant direct experience in financial analysis, reporting, and accounting leadership within a large, professionally managed operating company
  • Manufacturing background with in-depth knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting for a manufacturing organization
  • Ability to influence and engage business partners, peers , direct/indirect reports; Have ability to effectively interface with senior management
  • Desire for career advancement within Thermo Fisher Scientific
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of SAP business system
  • Previous use of Hyperion Financial Management tools
  • Demonstrated experience in a multinational, heavily matrixed organization
  • Experience managing and leading remote teams
