Position Summary:

The Clinical Ancillary Logistics Manager is responsible for the distribution support of all ancillary products in the clinical supply chain. Ancillary products include medical devices, laboratory equipment, consumables and other healthcare-related products. This position leverages our global distribution network in order to drive continuity of supply to the patients we serve. This is a remote position that can be located anywhere within the U.S., but preferably within the EST time zone.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs comprehensive ancillary distribution and import strategies for clinical trial use globally in support of forecasted study plan needs. Minimizes the overall cost to the client by creating the most effective and efficient depot strategy.
  • Implement strategy for import/export of shipments in compliance with international and domestic regulations across multiple global facilities.
  • Manages the Reverse Logistics service offering. Creates and executes in-country disposition strategies so Sponsors are compliant with all local and global waste regulations.
  • Actively stays up to date with offerings of the Fisher Clinical Services 3rd party depots.
  • Develops and executes value added supply chain and logistics programs for clients through direct interaction with external clients and internal supply chain managers.
  • Act as a Subject Matter expert for all logistics specific to ancillary products. Partners with the Commercial team as needed to sell the technical service and value of the Clinical Ancillary Management service.
  • Interfaces with all Fisher Clinical Services global facilities throughout North America, Latin America, Asia and EMEA.
  • Leads and participates in projects that enhance the Clinical Ancillary Management service line.
  • Act as the departmental SME on Practical Process Improvement (PPI). Become certified to lead projects and routinely use that skill set to enhance the department’s efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop and implement a transportation strategy to select the correct courier and lane when shipping ancillary equipment.
  • Create a freight matrix for ancillary shipments.
  • Routinely assess the profitability of ancillary distribution while making suggestions for improvements. Work with Finance to create Sponsor specific price matrixes.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to develop case studies, webinars and white papers on Reverse Logistics and other developments in ancillary logistics.
  • Applies Good Manufacturing Principles in all areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Five years’ experience in clinical supply logistics.
  • Up to 20% travel may be required, including international travel.
  • The ability to independently manage priorities in a remote setting


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in logistics, preferably in the clinical trial and/or commercial pharmaceuticals.
  • Knowledgeable of quality management processes in a regulated environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as problem solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook).
  • Proficiency in global logistics processes, including order fulfillment, distribution, customs, receiving, storage, returns and destruction or disposition.
  • Proficiency in logistics regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals, such as import/export duties and cGMPs.
