Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a PhD (Post Doctorate Position) to assist in the initiation, design, development, execution, and implementation of a wide range of high brightness ion and electron source development projects. Activities will include one or more of the following tasks as determined by program needs, project priorities and Post Doctorate’s capabilities and interests.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of experiments as directed by the lead scientists and engineers with the objective of the development and characterization of high brightness ion and electron sources. Experiments typically involve the measurements of current–voltage relationships, energy spread, brightness, lifetime, noise, and stability
  • Perform analysis of experimental results using scientific techniques and standard computer software (Excel, R, python, Julia, etc.)
  • Documentation of research results in both written reports and Power Point presentations
  • Development and testing of new laboratory and instrument control software
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, engineering and/or computer science
