Job Description

Supervisor will have overall responsibility to manage a team of Third Party Buyers and Backlog Specialist(s) assigned to execute day-to-day purchasing and expediting activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of designated team including but not limited to purchase order processing and management, supplier interface, rush order processing, new supplier on boarding, international supplier process, expediting, workflow and personnel issues.
  • Manage assigned portfolio of international and new suppliers.
  • Review and analyze metrics/reports on staff performance, publish and provide updates on metrics during staff meetings.
  • Manage backlog process by reducing past due orders and achieve/maintain established goals in 15-29 and 30+ day categories.
  • Drive down cost variance and assign/assist with quarter end backlog reduction efforts.
  • Develop and modify staff responsibilities to continuously enhance efficiency and improve processes.
  • Set and achieve individual and team goals in alignment with department and division.
  • Resolve escalations related to supplier payment issues and terms by working closely with A/P, Finance, and/or suppliers.
  • Provide Role Model Leadership to team; lead by example.
  • Participate in and lead interviews, candidate selection and hiring process, training and continuous development.
  • Manage performance of employees and team by conducting PMDs, staff meetings, 1:1 meetings, etc. as required.
  • Utilize PPI and/or other methodologies to drive efficiencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent business experience (8 years of additional experience in lieu of Bachelors) and a High School diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years in business.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and supply chain principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Cognos.
  • 3+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize work and maintain a high level of organization.
  • Proven track record of being able to work well with teams, internally and cross-functionally.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable leadership qualities and ability to effectively manage others.
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment and to adapt to changing requirements and tasks.
  • Ability to handle adverse, ambiguous and/or stressful situations with professionalism.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
