Responsibilities

To provide technical project management support to custom products and projects. Facilitate the information flow between operations, product marketing, customer service, technical service, customers, and sales. Maintain positive interactions with the sales teams and the customer to facilitate order placement, determine technical product feasibility, address concerns and assist in determination of corrective action, and customer follow-up.

Act as liaison between the lab personnel and the customer (directly and through other departments) to set customer expectations, address technical concerns, and determine feasibility of custom requests.

Assist in identifying customer opportunities, needs and requirements and communicate opportunities to the Sales force. Provide necessary support to acquire and retain customers.

Track the custom order process from initial inquiry to purchase order to shipment of final product. Manage communication with the customer and key stakeholders throughout the entire process. Collaborate with all parties involved to analyze and improve current processes.

Ensure final shipment of products that may include packing the material, generating technical documentation, and contacting the customer.

Utilize specialized technical knowledge or skills necessary to perform duties. Work with subject matter experts to resolve technical complaints, scientific hurdles, systems/logistical issues, and provide recommendations to resolve recurrence.

Recognize communication problems between the company and the customer, identify variables, recommend appropriate actions, and make necessary corrections to the processes.

May generate business reports to track the performance of the business in select markets, for key customers and / or selected regions.

Coordinate team, inter-team, or inter-departmental problem solving teams as required for custom projects.

May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Nature and Scope

This position largely interacts with equivalent levels of personnel in the manufacturing operations area as well as equivalent and senior levels of personnel in other business areas including Sales, Marketing, and R&D. Strong oral and written communication skills are required to identify problems and implement solutions in a team environment. Effectiveness in this role requires a working knowledge of Thermo Fisher Scientific quality management system, manufacturing process, and Standard Operating Procedures and the ability to see opportunities for improved effectiveness. The job encounters work situations of diverse scope and moderate complexity with identifiable factors. Incumbent exercises judgment within generally defined procedures and practices to determine action. The incumbent normally receives no instructions on routine work and general instruction on new assignments.


Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related discipline, or the equivalent knowledge and experience.

Requires at least four (4) years experience in the application of Molecular Biology laboratory techniques in a manufacturing environment or research laboratory.

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of learned laboratory techniques, equipment and materials required.

Demonstrated ability to carry out written scientific production instructions required.

Experience assessing current processes and techniques and implementing procedural improvements preferred.

Good problem solving skills necessary.

Computer literacy, including spreadsheet, database, internal systems (ERP, MRP, Sales, order entry, etc) and word processing applications as well as the Internet required.

Preferred Requirements

Working knowledge of manufacturing related computer software preferred.

Preferred experience with immunology via prior work experience and/or education.
