User Experience Designer Intern

Summary of Internship

The qualified applicant will become part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific HR Technology Services team supporting Human Capital Management, Learning Management and other related HR/IT applications. In this role, you will review existing processes and systems, making design recommendations to improve the user experience. You will work closely with end-users, internal HR, and IT staff to implement changes that will make a material positive impact to the user experience.

Essential Functions
  • Be an advocate for the users of HR Technologies, including managers, employees, HR and Talent Acquisition
  • Conduct research using various UX research methodologies (survey design, usability testing, user observation, etc.)
  • Review/analyze select end to end HR business processes for opportunities to make improvements from a user experience perspective
  • Work with internal HR and IT to design and implement practical UX enhancements to processes/systems. Solutions should be supported by data, grounded in best practice and consider internal or external constraints
  • Sit on various project teams, actively advocating for solutions that are designed around the user experience
  • Prioritize, roadmap, and present specific UX enhancements based on impact and complexity.
  • Build a model for incorporating a User centered focus to HR Technology projects

Qualifications
  • Experience with various UX research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Experience creating process maps, integration maps, site prototypes, functional and technical specifications
  • Ability to interface with all levels and functions within the organization
  • Ability to take a solution from concept to completion
  • Excellent presentation skills – ability to present findings and recommendations to senior level staff
  • Experience with app development (web and mobile) a plus
  • Experience with HR systems a plus
