The Sr. Manager, Corporate Development will work as part of a high profile team responsible for the development and execution of inorganic growth strategies and strategic partnerships for the Materials and Structural Analysis Division of Thermo Fisher Scientfic worldwide. Additionally, the Corporate Development team supports the division strategic planning process and provides related competitive intelligence for senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate on teams in developing M&A and strategic partnership strategies
  • Identify, research, analyze and value potential acquisitions, joint ventures, investments and other strategic growth and partnership opportunites
  • Support M&A and strategic partnership strategy objectives – including the development and tracking of acquisition and partnership opportunities, and all phases of transaction and partnership execution
  • Perform and manage due diligence activities
  • Assist in the development of the strategic business case to obtain corporate leadership support for M&A and partnership initiatives
  • Support the transaction and partnership negotiation, closing and integration planning processes
  • Support Strategic Planning / Business Development process, including evaluation of new business opportunities and development of M&A and partnership strategy
  • Support post merger integration and synergy activities
  • Analyze industry dynamics and the competitive landscape
  • Perform target company analysis including evaluation of SEC filings, Wall Street research and market reports, etc.
  • Special projects as assigned in connection with Thermo Fisher Scientific and in connection with the Division’s goals and strategy

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • MBA with undergraduate degree (preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting or a technical field), or relevant experience. Bachelor's of Science is a requirement.
  • Minimum of five years of combined experience in Partnerships/M&A/Strategic Planning in the areas of acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, other investments and strategic partnerships.
  • Experience at top-tier consulting or accounting firms with significant evidence of contribution to M&A and/or partnership activities or client support within those firms.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and participating in business transactions or business case development including acquisition evaluation, modeling and financial analysis
  • Proven track record supporting and managing transactions
  • Ability to understand the various business unit goals and identify inorganic and/or strategic partnership opportunities to meet them
  • Experience and demonstrated aptitude both managing and prioritizing multiple projects and initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to interact with executives and handle high pressure settings with confidence
  • Work independently with limited day to day contact with manager and in a global matrix environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel
  • Life science or healthcare experience is a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, both domestic and internationally, as required
  • Strong general business acumen
  • Excellent financial accumen and analytical skills - including a solid understanding of accounting principals and fundamentals of financial statement analysis
