International Women's Day
Thermo Fisher Scientific celebrates our women in leadership.
Cathy joined the company seven years ago as Services Marketing Manager. Her career started as a Services Marketing and Sales Consultant to technology companies.
“I started doing customer needs assessments and market research then progressed to principle consultant helping companies identify and translate customer needs into revenue-producing service initiatives that accelerate corporate growth and increase customer loyalty. Al Hahn (the owner of the consulting firm) taught me about services marketing; all the clients I served provided learning experiences. Serving on the Industrial Equipment Advisory Board of TSIA keeps me current with industry best practices.”
Cathy says her natural leadership skills include strategy, involvement, taking decisions, identifying problems, and building teams.
“I have always considered myself a service evangelist...and more recently a customer evangelist. I am passionate about making sure we take care of the customer through the lifetime of there system. I sometimes reach a conclusion before others and instead of taking them on the journey I intensely state my opinion, making others feel they aren't heard. I am now aware and apologize (with authenticity) when it happens.”
"I don't think I really think about sacrifices, as anything that allows me to fulfill my potential can never be a sacrifice. It is part of what it takes to be the best me.”
"Don't be afraid of failure. We all learn more from failing than we will ever learn from our successes. And in the words of my marketing idol, Seth Godin, ‘Merely begin. With the humility of someone who's not sure, and the excitement of someone who knows that it's possible.’ "
