International Women's Day
Thermo Fisher Scientific celebrates our women in leadership.
Molly has been growing with Thermo Fisher for 21 Years. Her first role was Marketing Manager within Research and Safety. “My career path is one of on-going experiences and being open minded to new challenges. Early in my career I worked within Research and Safety, originally in marketing management which lead to a role in sales management. While in my Inside Sales leadership role, Fisher Scientific was acquired by Thermo Electron. I was able to quickly build relationships with the self-manufacturing side of the company and began to sell our self-manned products through the channel I was overseeing. This opened new career doors for me. I interviewed for a Global Sales Director role, didn't get the job, but through the process was asked if I would be interested in a Global Service Director role. I said yes! I continued to expose and immerse myself in learning and championing PPI Business Systems and Customer Experience, while CE initiatives were just getting started and evolving within our company. Through those experiences and touch-points I increased my professional internal network and was asked to take on a service integration role in APAC. Once completed, I returned to the US and joined Unity Lab Services where I have had roles of increasing responsibility supporting our Enterprise and Instrument Service Customers and Divisional Partners.”
“Team building/communication, developing and mentoring others, continuous improvement focus, delivering on commitments”
Molly’s current challenge is “keeping up with understanding and communicating to our team all the products and services we offer, and continuing to build the organizational relationships needed to help best position and deliver on what we can collectively do for our customers.” To do this effectively she utilizes iConnect, Yammer, and Peer to Peer Networking as well as mentoring others from different groups, divisions and functions.
“I moved to APAC for an ex-pat assignment. Totally worth the personal and family sacrifices I had to make for that period of time, and the professional uncertainty it presented to me when I returned home and needed to find a my next role. Due to the remote nature of many of my roles, being on the road and running a business is the nature of the beast. Not always easy on your body, but part of the job.”
"Be yourself! Authentic leadership is key to you staying true to yourself and delivering the best to your work, team, customers and business. Keep a balanced perspective on your priorities (work, family, personal) and where and when you are investing your time. Sometimes you need to focus more on work, and at other times on family or yourself. Deliver on your commitments; you have a voice in what you sign up for. Communicate and take action on mitigating the risks and equally focus on uncovering new opportunities."
