International Women's Day
Thermo Fisher Scientific celebrates our women in leadership.
Sue has been growing with Thermo Fisher for 26 years! Her career path includes TS Rep to TS Manager (also overseeing Customer Service and Applications)... “then a stint doing Quality and Service Operations, VP of Sales & Marketing, and then onto a role as a Customer Advocate for LED which led me to Corporate Customer Experience.” Whew!
Authenticity (people won't sign on to your ideas if they don't know and trust you), communication (helping everyone to see the reasons behind a plan), work ethic (I would never ask of others something I'm not willing to do myself), and customer focus (I've been serving customers since my college job days).
Self promotion and managing up. “This skill helps raise awareness of one's capabilities, but it doesn't always happen as organically as it should. Sometimes you need to exercise this muscle on your own behalf.”
To get where she is today, Sue took on lots of extra assignments and tasks to drive efficiency within her various organizations. “No one has time for continuous improvement, you have to make it. Even when you're too busy fixing all the broken things, if you don't focus on some preventive measures, the problems will overtake you.”
“Know your worth! You have value to the organization, but sometimes it won't be obvious to yourself or others. Review and update your resume regularly and it will help you to see all that you've accomplished and better define your worth. When in doubt, go on an interview!”
