Careers at ThermoFisher Scientific

International Women's Day

Thermo Fisher Scientific celebrates our women in leadership.

Tara Lagomarsino

Sr Director Employee Communications, Pharma Services
Waltham, MA

Tara joined Thermo Fisher seven years ago as Director of Employee Communications. She moved from Thermo Fisher's Corporate Communications team into her new PSG role on February 1, 2018. “I have worked in a variety of settings serving in Marketing Communications roles. When I came to Thermo Fisher I made the decision to focus on internal communications because I wanted to use my skills to help build employee engagement, while obtaining more experience working for a global company. I was also attracted to Thermo Fisher's Mission and felt that I could make a difference using my strategic communications skills and expertise. Even though I have been focused on internal communications while working at Thermo Fisher, I have used my marketing skills to help round out the communications programs I’ve developed for my internal customers.”

“Leading teams of colleagues who bring different skills to the table. I enjoy quickly identifying the strengths each person brings to the team and determining how we can utilize everyone's strengths to achieve our goals and objectives.”

“I'm most challenged with achieving balance in my life. When I'm asked to lead a project I put my heart and soul into it and tend to sacrifice my personal life. I'm still working on ways to achieve more balance.”

“While I'm truly excited about my new role, it's something that is very much out of my comfort zone. I decided to make this move because I wanted to gain experience working within the business and I really liked the fact that this business has a direct impact on patient's lives. At the 2018 Leadership Meeting we watched a video of a breast cancer patient who was helped by one of the treatments developed by Pharma Services. After seeing that video, I was even more motivated to find a way to make a difference using my skills. My grandmother, mother, aunt and great uncle were all breast cancer survivors, but I unfortunately lost my father and my step father to cancer - so what we do is near and dear to my heart and serves as motivating factor for me to use my skills to help this business be successful.”
