As a R&D Manager, I lead a team responsible for verifying and validating work for a variety of benchtop laboratory instruments and pipettes, as well as other liquid handling products that are developed at our Vantaa site. Our customers have high-quality expectations and rely on sufficient verification and validation to ensure our products don’t have any faults that may negatively impact their functionality and usability.
I take pride in knowing the reliability of our products allows our customers to improve lives, like our Thermo Scientific™ KingFisher™ instruments used in Alzheimer’s disease research. Alzheimer’s disease is the main cause of dementia and it touches many people. This disease impacts the entire family as it causes personality changes and hinders the ability to perform normal everyday activities - something I have seen firsthand in my own family. An award-winning scientist from the University of Gothenburg uses our KingFisher™ instruments to discover novel biomarkers for Alzheimer´s disease identification in early stage and to facilitate larger, more relevant clinical studies for Alzheimer’s research. Examples like this help me appreciate the importance of our Mission and the work we do to serve science.
When you’re ready to build a meaningful career, you’ll discover that at Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our extraordinary minds has a unique story to tell. And we all contribute to a singular Mission—to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
