Position Summary:
Thermo Fisher is currently seeking a highly motivated and diligent Trade Operations Analyst to join our Trade Compliance team. The ideal candidate will supply significantly to optimizing trade operations, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, and supporting data-driven decision-making processes. This role involves analyzing trade-related expenses, conducting internal audits, responding to policy changes, and developing automated solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Job Responsibilities:
IE Operation Expenses Management:
- Conduct post-review, centralization, analysis, and optimization of trade-related operational expenses.
- Investigate and analyze abnormal cost growth, such as demurrage costs, and identify contributing factors
- Collaborate with the IE team to achieve a target productivity through process improvements and cost optimization.
Internal Audit and Compliance:
- Perform post-review and clean/modify IE data to ensure alignment with customs data at the SKU level.
- Develop and implement an automated internal audit system to proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks.
Policy Change Response:
- Analyze the content and impact of ad hoc trade policy changes on the company’s operations.
- Collaborate with the India team to create comprehensive policy change reports.
- Supervise and assess potential new trade policies, including additional tariffs, US-China export controls, and updates to the unreliable entity list, particularly under a potential Trump 2.0 administration.
China Export Control and Data Analysis:
- Conduct data analysis and system development to ensure compliance with China export control regulations.
- Develop tools and processes to streamline export control-related workflows.
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Candidates with coursework or self-study in SQL are preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Excel, including sophisticated functions and pivot tables.
- Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, or Python for data analysis and visualization is helpful.
- Experience: Prior experience in data analysis or process automation is a plus.
- Language Skills: Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Soft Skills:
- Proven attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent logical reasoning and inductive reasoning.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficiency in using office software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Power Automate, Power App).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in trade compliance, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations and policies.
- Ability to work closely in a global, cross-functional team environment.
