The position represents an opportunity to join the Thermo Fisher Scientific
What will you do?
- Provide general laboratory support for multiple teams of scientists engaged in the development of new technologies related to cell biology research.
- Support of day-to-day operations of the Microbiology laboratories, including ordering, tracking, and stocking of inventory, shipping and receiving, and general lab upkeep.
- Coordinating calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Coordination with Facilities and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to maintain an effective and safe lab environment.

Education
- Requires a High School Diploma,
Experience:
- Proven experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Pharmaceutical Industry experience is a plus but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Highly organized with strong attention to details
- Comfortable working with computers and basic software packages, including Microsoft Office
- Able to work in dynamic, fast-paced team environment
- Effective communication and social skills
- Familiarity with a microbiological laboratory
- Able to assist senior staff members with daily tasks
- Able to follow all EHS guidelines in the laboratory environment
- Ability to identify areas requiring improvement to improve laboratory function, safety and efficiency
Working Conditions:
Majority of work will be completed in a laboratory environment. Candidate may be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties and must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.
Competencies:
Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Proficient in the understanding and application of aseptic technique, environmental monitoring, and identification of microorganisms. Effective written and social skills with the ability to interact with Auditors if there is a need. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point). Ability to multitask by working on multiple projects simultaneously, and able to adapt and change priorities when business needs demand a shift in priority. Ability to work weekends when needed based on business needs.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-35 pound pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, latex or similar gloves, safety apron, organic respirator occasionally.
