I contribute to the heart of the Thermo Fisher Scientific mission in a fun and fulfilling role that engages STEM education—Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. I present STEM workshops that help K-12 teachers incorporate new and exciting products into their classrooms. As one of our point people for the STEM Design Challenge, a competition for middle school students, I get to help teachers coach their students. In just a few years, we’ve reached thousands of teachers, helping students across the country get excited about going deeper into this important field.
Part of my work also involves programming robots. I’ve trained school district and university staff how to use the NAO, an autonomous humanoid robot. I teach instructors how to take full advantage of the NAO in their classrooms and laboratories—so my work opens up new and exciting educational possibilities for both teachers and students.
