The Account Manager is accountable for the sales of scientific products and services within a defined segment/territory, serving customers engaged in research and development. In this role you build and maintain strong customer relations and develop opportunities for growth within an existing customer base. The Account Manager ensures strong market penetration and profitability while achieving sales and profit forecasts.
Your responsibilities:
Build and implement a strong strategic and tactical sales plan and pricing strategy for your specified territory to ensure revenue and gross margin objectives are achieved or exceeded.
Develop and maintain impactful customer relationships and assure strong market presence and profitability by delivering in-depth meetings with a range of end users and purchasing contacts. Communicate the segment specific Fisher Scientific value proposition to key customers. Brings innovative solutions to the customer to generate revenue from new products or services.
Improve selling time and efficiently delegate non-sales-related activities.
Maintain a high level of professional business knowledge relevant to the region, including competitor activity.
Efficiently and accurately update reporting tools to the business on customers, competitor activity, promotions etc., to agreed timescales and in a format as agreed by your Regional Segment Manager.
Work closely with fellow sales team members to build the best customer experience. Display positive role model behaviors and efficiently support junior colleagues.
Establish relationships with key suppliers and collaborate on improved terms as and when possible, to improve profitability for the company.
Complete all elements of personal administration including personal expenses and mileage capture for company car drivers. Ensure detail is accurate, and in line with company procedures.
Actively seek opportunities for self-development, applying all available training. Use PPI (Practical Process Improvement) principles to find a better way every day and run simple projects.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Confirmed sales experience, preferably in the research laboratory industry particularly where there is a strong understanding of the current marketplace for laboratory equipment, consumables and/or chemicals.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the sciences or equivalent work experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and the Web.
Knowledge of salesforce.com software a plus.
Full driver’s license and must be able and willing to travel (up to 80% of time) to customer locations and attend regional as well as national meetings.
Written and spoken Dutch and English skills.
Good interpersonal, collaboration, time management, communication, presentation, strategic selling and negotiating skills.
This Role operates within a Matrix environment requiring the post holder to work efficiently with multiple partners.
