Job Title: Lead Site Specialist

Location/Division Specific Information 

Unity Lab Services provides a single source for coordinated lab service, support, and supply management. Our customized service offerings and outstanding service guides have the flexibility and experience to uniquely address our customer’s laboratory business needs. 

How will you make an impact:

The position is focused primarily on scientific support services within core offerings of order entry, order management, operating procurement systems, stockroom services, material handling, shipping/receiving, chemical tracking, and glass wash operations. 

What will you do  

  • Under the direction of the Supervisor or Manager: 
  • Assist in organization of staff and workload to meet or exceed performance standards at assigned customer site(s). 
  • Assists in training of new hire employees. 
  • Covers for absent employees, vacant positions, or increases in employee workload.  
  • Collect data to support the maintenance of records that may include training, key performance indicators and other information required by either company or customer. 
  • Perform the day-to-day functions utilizing systems stated below: 
  • Thermo Fisher Scientific’s inventory management platform.
  • Makes on-site program replenishments and disbursements.  Performs stockroom duties to include receiving, put-away, stock rotation, cycle counts, systematic replenishment, and other functions according to customer requirements.   
  • Customer service activities which may include order entry, expediting, customer service call resolution, return goods authorization, processing of backorders, vendor and customer interaction, problem resolution,.     
  • Acts as a liaison between customer, sales, suppliers, logistics and management using special system knowledge to ensure success of customer relationships. Ensure an important level of confidentiality for both customer and company.
  • Listens to customer concerns, effectively diffuses dissatisfaction, and quickly identifies course of action with a goal of first call resolution within established turnaround times. 
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on defined procedures as outlined by Best Practices, SOP’s & work instructions.   
  • Communicates with supervisor any customer issues and/or potential problems.  
  • Analyzes/maintains/reconciles various customer and company reports to ensure customer requirements are met. 
  • Promotes personal growth and development by staying abreast of new policies and improvements without the presence of site trainer and management team. 
  • Embraces Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodologies. 

How will you get here? 

Education: 

Must possess a High School Diploma. College degree preferred but not required.  

Experience 

  • Must have three to five years of meaningful experience. 
  • Experience in inventory management setting or lab services preferred. 
  • Detail oriented, problem solver, promotes team environment. 
  • Computer/software skills (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.) 
  • Validated verbal, written and presentation skills. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • Displays an important level of confidentiality for both customer and company. 
  • Must possess a strong desire to serve the customer, and look after various levels of personnel at the customer site. 
  • Must have effective communication skills and customer focus to deliver excellent customer service, including maintaining a professional appearance. 
  • Knowledge of handheld scanners and learn to enter data in various systems.  
  • Must possess strong analytical skills to reconcile various reports to ensure customer requirements are met. 
  • Must possess the skills to multi-task and meet customer requirement as needed.  
  • Works primarily at customer locations, in office environment to include cubicles and/or in and around shipping/receiving docks, stock rooms, storage locations and laboratory environments. Work independently at customer location. 
  • Extensive walking required. 
  • May pass through areas where chemical-based allergens may be in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc.) 
  • Able to lift, push and pull 30-40 pounds consistently; may be required to lift 50 lbs. 
  • May be able to use material handling equipment such as push carts and pallet jacks. 
  • Depending on the area of building, personal protective equipment may be worn to include lab coats, coveralls, hood, facemask, hairnets, safety gloves, safety glasses, steel toes shoes, and/or bump hats.  
  • Able to work overtime as the need arises.
