Location/Division Specific Information
The position will be a part of the CSO Office and corporate R&D organization, and will report to the Sr Staff Scientist, Bioinformatics. The role will be based in Frederick, MD.

How will you make an impact?
We need a motivated individual for quantum computing algorithm research. You'll work with senior R&D leaders and contribute to key research initiatives across the company. We aim to be the world leader in serving science, offering many opportunities in R&D in Health Care, Pharma Biotech, Life Sciences, and Applied Markets.
What will you do?
- Work with teams to address key questions through quantum computing algorithm experimentation and development efforts on various in-house technological platforms.
- Coordinate with a team that is working on an R&D project to which you will contribute by crafting, conducting, and coordinating scientific studies and experiments. You will detail your research efforts and work, share analyses and present results to senior level R&D staff and management personnel.
- Contribute to innovation and have an ability to develop ideas into real world solutions.
- When applicable, you will be encouraged to publish your work or present at conferences.
Education
Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Quantum Computing, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field. A track record of academic success and scientific methodology in their chosen field.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with developing quantum computer algorithms
- Deep understanding of quantum computing frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, Q#, etc)
- Proven track record of implementing quantum algorithms on real quantum hardware
- Strong programming skills in Python and other relevant languages
- Strong technical and people leadership personality is necessary
- Strong desire and motivation to develop a career as a future leader in R&D
- Ability to manage, plan, and prioritize projects
- Demonstrated leadership proficiency, learning agility, and adaptability
- Effective communication skills, especially for presenting scientific results, keeping records, and working collaboratively in a team of scientists are necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-doctoral research experience in quantum computing or quantum chemistry
- Experience with life sciences applications or analytical instrumentation
- Knowledge of machine learning and its integration with quantum computing
- Background in computational chemistry or molecular dynamics
- Experience with cloud-based quantum computing platforms
- Patent portfolio in quantum computing applications
- Experience leading technical teams in an industrial setting

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $91,700.00–$122,200.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
