LOCATION:                            5350 NE Dawson Creek Dr, Hillsboro, OR 97124

TITLE:                                    Engineer III, Systems Design

HOURS:                                  Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

DUTIES:                                            Lead the development of state of the art core technology solutions by working closely with, and learning from, world class marketing, project management, operations, suppliers, engineers and scientists with a diverse set of backgrounds.

  • Design and simulation of focused ion beam (FIB) columns including charged particle optics, high voltage, vacuum systems, and material selection.
  • Develop tests to characterize and improve FIB performance using statistical analysis, design of experiment (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Hands on integration, validation, verification and troubleshooting of prototype systems and workflows.
  • Maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories of charged particle optics and systems, including ion and electron sources.
  • Develop and maintain in-house software tools to simulate and characterize FIB columns;
  • Participate in the development of patent applications.
  • Provide company-wide technical support for ion column minimum.

TRAVEL:                                 Up to 10% domestic or international travel required.

REQUIREMENTS:                  MINIMUM Education Requirement:

  • Ph.D. degree, or foreign equivalent, in Physics or related

field of study.

MINIMUM Experience Requirement:

  • 1 year of experience as a FIB Scientist, Nanosystems, Systems Engineer or related field of study.

Alternative Education and Experience Requirement:

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Physics or a related field of study plus 4 years of experience as a FIB Scientist, Nanosystems, Systems Engineer or related field of study.

Required knowledge or experience with:

  • Design, modelling, simulation, characterization, troubleshooting, integration, validation and operation of FIB-SEM charged particle systems;
  • Working and fundamental knowledge of nanotechnology, particle physics, plasma physics, electronics and systems engineering;

  • Integration and control of relevant, complex instrumentation using Labview and Python.
